When you work with firesys, you should ideally be able to work on your business reports on a long-term basis, and in doing so, prepare your report for the next quarter or financial year. The “roll forward” function can support you with this. You can use it to automatically transfer values that are located in one column in an Excel workbook to a different column after the setup process. You can use this master data to quickly and easily create a basis for additional reports.

The roll forward function

In the “*Content” menu ribbon, the "Roll forward" group contains all functions that you need for setting up and executing the roll forward function. The central working environment is the roll forward work area. You open and close the work area by clicking on the “Work area” button.



The figures that were located in the “2017” column are automatically transferred to the “2018” column when you execute the “roll forward” function. The roll forward function can be executed in firesys on all worksheets that are not locked and which do not contain any diagram or Pivot elements. The only requirement is that a print area is defined with which the dimensions of the table can be described in more detail. There are two different types of worksheets that can be rolled forward:

  • created a new table and want to prepare it generally to use the “roll forward” function,
  • or if you have a table to which the “roll forward” function was not yet applied,

...are newly prepared for rolling forward and contain values that are not dependent on key dates from the MeetingPoint

If you have

  • created a new table that contains transmitter values or manual values and if you want to prepare it for using the “roll forward” function,
  • or if you have a table to which the “roll forward” function was not yet applied,

...already exist and contain values that are not dependent on key fates from the MeetingPoint
